AUTHOR: K.S. Wiswell

GENRE: Nonfiction | Essays | Humor

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

RELEASE DATE: January 7, 2020

PUBLISHER: Kaplan Publishing [Simon & Schuster]

COMPARABLE TITLES: Untrue by Wednesday Martin Ph.D, Harebrained by Meg Myers Morgan, Make It Scream, Make It Burn by Leslie Jamison

BSBC SUMMARY: What do you get when you divide the circumference of a jack o’ lantern by its diameter? Pumpkin pi!

That’s just a small taste of the hilarity that’s packed into Full-Frontal Nerdity, a collection of short, light-hearted pieces by Harvard grad, comedy writer, and self-proclaimed nerd K.S. Wiswell.

Throughout the book, Wiswell takes us through the shelves of her comprehensive education, covering everything from Bayesian reasoning to fractals to the nuances of semantics (what exactly is the difference between ambition and masochism?)

But the real magic of the book isn’t how smart Wiswell is (which is very), but rather how she takes complex and dry topics and applies them to real-life to create entertaining insights for us laymen. For instance, have you ever been absolutely convinced that your “Mr. Right” just isn’t out there? Think again. According to Wiswell, he is. Several of them, actually. But how can she be so sure? Because math. In fact, there’s a very precise (and complicated) formula you can use to find out just how many compatible mates are out there for you.

Using her own stories of heartbreak, mistakes, and lessons learned and applying her hard earned Ivy education, Wiswell creates a hilarious, thought provoking, and sometimes plain silly read.

WHY THIS IS A MUST-READ: Don’t let the author’s impressive background or the topics in the book scare you away—this is an extremely relatable and down-to-earth book. If you need something to make you laugh or just want something that’s outside the box, Full-Frontal Nerdity is the book for you.

I laughed my head off at this book and couldn’t stop telling the pi jokes to everyone I came across for days! This book is unlike anything I’ve read recently. Think Tina Fey meets Elle Woods meets Hermione Granger (except minus the magic…unless quantum physics counts). Plus, I officially have a girl crush on the author!

Smart is sexy. Now get reading!

Author K.S. Wiswell
