AUTHOR: Deborah Goodrich Royce

GENRE: Psychological Thriller

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

RELEASE DATE: June 25, 2019

PUBLISHER: Post Hill Press

COMPARABLE TITLES: The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine, Summer of ’69 by Elin Hilderbrand

SUMMARY: In Finding Mrs. Ford, Susan Ford is in for a tumultuous summer in 1979 when she meets and befriends a coworker named Annie. Susan’s prim and proper nature is the exact opposite of Annie’s impulsive and reckless one, yet they quickly build a friendship, albeit a lopsided and unhealthy one.

Just a few days into their summer job at a clothing boutique, Annie convinces Susan to leave the dullness of the shop and instead start work as a cocktail waitress at a seedy discotheque run by a group of brothers who are somewhat notorious in their Detroit neighborhood. The novelty of the disco and the appeal of the taboo pulls Susan into a world she never imagined she’d be a part of.

Thirty-five years later, Susan’s life is mellow, privileged, and discreet. That is, until the FBI knocks on the door of her extravagant New England home. Her world is completely upturned as she’s dragged back into the whirlwind of the summer of ’79 and forced her to reveal secrets she’d worked so hard to keep covered, especially to herself.

WHY THIS IS A MUST-READ: This book was part mystery and part drama, which made for a highly addictive read. I loved the drama of the main characters’ friendship but I also couldn’t stop wondering about the unrevealed secrets and imminent twists!

This was the perfect mix of character and plot, something that’s often hard to find in thrillers. This book was so compulsive that I read it in two sittings!

RATING SYSTEM:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️—Add this to your must-read list immediately. This is an important and moving book. I highly recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️—This book was entertaining, well-written, and worthwhile. I definitely recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️—This book was decent and a good read. I recommend, but do not consider it a must-read.

⭐️⭐️—This book had one or two positive qualities, but overall I do not recommend.

⭐️—This book fell flat in several ways. I do not recommend.

????—A half star for those that fell in between rating levels.
