Would you consider the fact that I've blown my daughter's future college fund on new books an issue? Cool, me either. I knew we'd be friends.

Doesn't it feel so good to finish reading a book? I love long and winding stories, but I also really, really like short and quick reads. I find they're always a great option for palate cleanser books. It's especially gratifying to read through an entire book on a lazy day when you can spend your whole day just reading. Here are 11 really great books you can read in one (or maybe two) sittings.

What sets a great writer apart from a good one? It comes down to how well they can tell a story. And that story, whether it’s a real-life account or a tale of a far-off fantasy world, is why people read. Stories at part magic, but also part technique. Storytelling tools include point of view, […]

Our brains see whatever we tell them to see. The term for this is called Confirmation bias and it’s the reason you’re a terrible writer. Simply put—if you think you’re a terrible writer, it’s because you’re telling yourself you are. True to form, your brain is then going and finding the evidence to support your claims.

Why You’re a Terrible Writer Take just a minute to watch this video from YouTube. This is an awareness test. Count how many passes the team in white makes. How shocking is that?? It’s incredible what we miss when we aren’t looking for it. How can it be that we don’t notice such obvious things […]

Imagine if you could feel inspired all the time. And motivated. And excited. And any other feeling you want. The thing is—you can. And not only do you have the power to choose your feelings, you also have the power to erase any bad feelings that pop up.

When you’re feeling inspired, it’s easy to write. You feel good, you feel talented, you feel full of ideas. But when you’re feeling depleted, it’s near impossible. You feel too exhausted to pull yourself from the couch, anything you do manage to get down on paper is garbage, and you feel so beat down that […]

Are you falling prey to the trickiest form of writer’s procrastination? Here’s how to tell: You’ve been working on your novel/ blog/ article/ writing project forever, but you've barely made a dent.
